Any company values are only as strong as their meaning to the people on the ground, and who are ultimately, the people which make these values more than words. We sat down with Lloyd Rennie, one of our Logistics Co – Ordinator’s, to find out what each of our values meant to him, and how he applies them in his day – to – day performance.
One of the defining characteristics of global trade is the need for any stakeholder to have an ‘always on approach’, when we got on to the topic Lloyd noted that availability is a quality which is a fundamental expectation of any client which must be satisfied, “I think being available is important because it’s part of the offering that Pure Trade presents to its customers. If you were to order something for yourself, you would want to know when and where your item was from the order confirmation until it’s in your hands.” Expanding on this, he gave some insight as to what his day to day role entails, “We are the ones who keep the customer informed and must have consistency in the information we relay because if we were to ever encounter an issue we would need to be able to communicate and engage with all relevant parties quickly. If any of them were waiting on information, then that would obviously delay identifying and executing a solution.”
When raising the topic of issues arising along the supply chain, Lloyd noted, “Being meticulous and laying out all the necessary information as and when ensures a smooth process from start to finish”. Continuing, he explained the importance of being clear and informative in all communications, “We cannot allow for details to be overlooked and slip through the cracks as this could be a costly endeavour at some point in the supply chain.”
As a strategic management graduate, Lloyd has an acute understanding of the relationship of all stakeholders to a transaction, “In order to produce they rely on us to provide them with their inputs. We need their orders to sustain ourselves.” Being mindful of the importance of a clients success and the importance thereof to Pure Trade Africa, he continued, “Simply put, we need each other. I think what’s key in a largely service related industry is placing that emphasis on each of our clients to ensure they want to continue to do business with us and give them a service level they can count on.”
The operations team form the core of our business, they are our hands the ground who deal with clients as well as suppliers. Should Lloyd’s understanding and application of our values sound like the right fit to Co – Ordinate your next chemical shipment – contact us!
