We are proud to announce that five Milestone Day Care (MDC) pupils left for Grade R at the end of 2023 far better prepared than they were before MDC opened in August 2023!

MDC’s purpose-made early childhood development centre is well underway, with special thanks to Pure Hope Foundation, a charitable arm of Pure Trade Africa, who not only contribute financially to the general running of the day care but also donated – in honour of one of their main donors, the late Glen Hall – THREE containers that form the primary structure of the new day care premises. A massive contribution that really got the project onto its feet.

Building is happening slowly but surely as and when time and funds are available. This windows and doors have been added to the main classroom, the floors, walls and ceilings have been classed and the bathroom build starts in late April!

A brand new outside jungle gym made by Milestone Kitchens’ skilled carpenters is almost up and running.

Work on the kitchen and nap room (container 2 and 3) will start in June.

While the build is underway, lessons are still in full swing for the 19 little students; the topic this month has been weather as we transition from hot and rainy to cold and dry. MDC’s teachers are focussing on learning English words for different elements of weather and teaching the children how changing weather affects the trees, plants and environment around us.
